Meet Andrea, a Registered Provisional Psychologist, registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists. Her academic journey started with a passion to better understand the conditions in which humans can thrive, leading her to earn an undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology, before completing a Master of Science degree in Counselling Psychology, both at the University of Calgary. Andrea's academic expertise spans across various domains of psychology, with research experience in educational psychology, as well as in anatomical and behavioural neuroscience.
In the counselling space, she employs a holistic approach to therapy, drawing from methodologies like ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Solution Focused Therapy, and Narrative Therapy techniques. Her client-centered and collaborative style ensures that each individual's unique journey is valued and prioritized. Always on the path of growth and learning, Andrea is currently in the process of becoming EMDR certified, further expanding her counselling toolbox. She's also a certified practitioner of ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and holds a certification in ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training).
Andrea specializes in providing compassionate support and guidance to youth (12+) and adults. With a strong background in addressing issues related to Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Learning Disabilities, and Anxiety, she tailors strategies to enhance interpersonal communication, self-regulation, coping skills, self-concept, and self-esteem, supporting individuals to achieve their goals. Her expertise extends to supporting individuals in navigating career transitions, life adjustments, managing stress, navigating interpersonal relationships, and parenting.
With a diverse background in working within school systems and with individuals in private practice, Andrea is well-equipped to understand and address a wide range of challenges. Her warm, empathetic approach fosters a meaningful connection, allowing for a safe space of personal growth and healing.
